ROOMS

On joining your child will be allocated to one of the rooms appropriate for their age and will move up the rooms when they are ready.

The room has been purposely made cosy for our youngest with a separate sleep area creating a home to home environment. Our baby room places a strong emphasis on cuddles, love and fun allowing them to benefit from activities from soft visually stimulating toys moving onto more adventurous and challenging activities for the active baby. In our baby room, staff encourage language development through basic words, singing as well as sensory development. Staff in the baby room aim to meet the routine you want cooperating and monitoring with the parents, such as the child’s feeding, weaning and sleep routine. The room has the nappy changing facilities as well as a milk kitchen.

Our babies are not on all on a scheduled routine and we provide individual and customised care. Some babies are breastfed, some are on formula and some are on transition to formula and solids. At this age we are aware that your child requires that extra special care and attention, so here at Apple Day Nursery, we have created the perfect home from home environment where your child can feel happy and relax in warm and secure surroundings.

Adjacent to Green 2 this is a much larger and spacious room allowing children to explore their first steps.  It is at this stage that we gently introduce enjoyable experiences whereby we encourage creativity through messy play, painting, as well as learning new vocabulary and language development in the home corner and story areas.

This room has its own nappy changing facilities and a milk kitchen.

Our 2- to 3-year-old room also known as the Purple room. This is a bright and stimulating environment which enables our children to release their adventurous sides.

Here, children are encouraged and supported to be independent from washing hands to eating, potty training and using the toilets successfully. There is a lot of language in this room and staff support this by providing children with more vocabulary through reading. . In the toddler’s room the staff aim to help the children become more independent by allowing them the freedom to choose and lead in activities and to stimulate their senses further. There is a wide range of age appropriate toys and resources and the children are encouraged through wide range of pre-planned activities with the aim of following their lead and staff responding to their developing skills and abilities. Here in our toddlers’ room, we also encourage the children to take part in physical activities be it outdoor or indoor through music and movement and action games as well as range of construction materials in order for the child to extend their fine motor skills.

Children have direct access to toilets and hand washing facilities. They are taught how to learn to use the toilets and personal hygiene care.

This is our preschool room also known as the Yellow room. Our preschool room is set up to enable us to deliver the seven areas of the EYFS curriculum. The preschool room is more structured where we work with individual children to ensure that they achieve their potential through a mixture of child led activities and adult led activities. In our preschool room, we support our children to be independent in their health and self-care, social skills, respect for other children and we encourage and support the children to become independent to prepare them for an easier transition into primary school. We help to build confidence in all of our children and plan activities that will help promote school readiness.

Confident children can now use the directly accessible toilets themselves, with help needed from staff who are always not far.
